Redcliffe City Art Gallery CollectionHoused in the Gallery, the Redcliffe City Art collection originated in 1957 as a contest to promote the Peninsula's leisurely seaside lifestyle. More than 40 years later, Redcliffe is a vibrant and progressive city that continues to be a popular destination for artists. Encapsulating our historical journey, the Redcliffe City Art Collection was pivotal in the development of the Art Gallery. It is comprised of a unique array of works and it records more than four decades of changes in contemporary Queensland art practice. In recent years significant donations from the McKeon Family, Drs Kathleen and Leonard Shillam and Betty Quelhurt have added depth and history to the collection. Interpretive exhibitions from the collection combined with school, community and local exhibitions and other programs help characterise our city's culture and identity. Redcliffe has its own personality and the Redcliffe City Art Collection is integral to illustrating that personality. A link to view artwork by our local artists will come soon. Please stay tuned in.
